The design process explained

Every successful garden begins with a thorough understanding of the site and the client. Our design process starts with a free consultation at your property, where we discuss how you use your garden, what you like and dislike, your budget, and any practical constraints such as access, drainage, or existing features you want to keep.

We then carry out a detailed site survey, recording measurements, levels, soil type, aspect (which direction your garden faces), and any significant trees or structures. This information forms the foundation of the design. We produce initial concept sketches — usually two or three options — for you to review and discuss.

Once you have chosen a preferred direction, we develop the concept into a detailed master plan with scaled drawings, a comprehensive planting schedule, materials specifications, and a phased construction programme if required. We can produce 3D visualisations for complex projects so you can see exactly how your garden will look before we break ground.

After approval, our construction team takes over. The same project manager oversees every stage — groundwork, hard landscaping, soil preparation, planting, lighting, and finishing details. We maintain close communication throughout, and you are welcome to visit the site at any time. The finished garden is handed over with a full maintenance guide and aftercare advice.

Planting for year-round interest

The hallmark of a well-designed garden is that it looks good in every season, not just during the summer months. Working with challenging sites

Not every garden is a blank canvas on flat ground.
